Old Pink Thing”

It sits there
in the garage,
resting on a rusty kick stand
wishing to be ridden.

That Old Pink Thing,
flat, dirty wheels
collecting dust with all the others.

I remember how free I felt when I rode it,
leaving behind bad thoughts,
freeing my mind.

Wind blowing through my hair,
pink streamers
softly grazing my fists.

It was my first bike,
the bike
I fell off a hundred times.
That Old Pink Thing
took me forever to learn to ride.

Now it doesn’t even look like it did before,
it looks so old, rusty, and sad.
But when I remember riding it I feel young again.
