Burning sands across deep expanse
empty and bare
yet you continue through
taking slow steps
one foot at a time
making your way out of the barren land.

Each footprint in the sand
forms a path in the dust
soon to be blown away by traveling winds.
The blazing sun scars your delicate skin
causing you to flinch with every brush of wind.

Your mind wanders to greenery of bushes
rain falling from the sky
a town full of people
the scent of fresh bakery goods
all things you miss as you wander
alone
through the desolate wasteland.
