What has this world come down to, getting torn apart?
Only some people seem to have a heart.
I know I am too young to know all of these things,
but I know them because they are happening around me.

Some days I fear, when I go outside,
that I might get shot down  in a drive-by.
They used to fear about Ku Klux Klan,
now I fear a gun in someone’s hand.

It is easy to lose your life in one flick,
easy for a child to get caught under a mind trick.
It is easy for a kid to get taken
by a kidnapper who knows all the commotion he is making.

But he does not care.
What this world has come down to is not really fair.
