I have to write a poem
and it’s not okay
It’s the one thing that’s sure
to ruin my day
Writing poetry’s such a drag
It’s just the worst
Of all the things I hate
it has to come first
I stare at the paper
and it stares right back
If I thought it would help
I would give it a whack
I just hate it when
the lines have to rhyme
I have to think really hard
and it takes a long time
It seems that I never
know what to write about
I want to pull my hair
I want to scream and shout
Poetry is not my friend
and it’s so true
I don’t like poetry
and neither should you
