Something about Death is unnerving
To some the approaching end treads on soft paws
quietly stealing them away
in the dream-deprived night

To others the black-veiled visitor comes forth
like a timid lion
slowly and
with proper warning

A blessing or a curse?
The grief from last farewells
weighs upon shoulders

Yet some seek Death
unable to find Hope, Peace or Grace
They sell their future
for a cold embrace

And so I ponder the death that turns us to dust
envy Elijah
wish I could talk to Lazarus
