Maybe
just maybe
she looks strong
or acts strong
but that’s all on the outside.
She hides her emotions
hoping you won’t ask anything.
What you don’t know is––
she is broken
lost and afraid.
She cries and screams into her pillow.
Late at night she sits in the corner crying
but trying not to make a sound.
Failing
as she screams in pain
wondering why she isn’t
perfect.
All she can do is hide
fake a smile
and act like everything is
just fine.
