“So Many Things”

I stare at the page
But my pencil won’t write
I’m just not in the mood
For poetry tonight.

I could paint my nails
And braid my hair
Try out new make up
Or decide what to wear.

So many things
That I’d rather do
Like watch paint dry or the news
Just to name a few.

I could clean the disaster that is my room
Since it looks like a tornado made this mess
But that’s not happening
So I’ll finish homework, I guess.

So I’m sitting
Here in my chair
Staring at blank paper
With braids in my hair.
